Buckle up, friends.  We’re going on vacation.

J and I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary last week and to celebrate, we took a trip to Puerto Rico.  This is the first trip we’ve taken without kids (J was pregnant with B when we went out west four years ago….so technically, we had a kid with us) since our 2nd anniversary when we went to New York.

We picked Puerto Rico because J wanted to go somewhere she could put her toes in the sand and I didn’t want to leave the country.  Also, it’s hurricane season so it was somewhat cheap.

We started our journey at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport with a 6:30 AM flight to Chicago.  We had a short layover in Chicago before embarking on the five hour ride to San Juan.

We flew United so we hopped off the plane at the B Concourse.  We both had the same thing in mind as soon as we touched down.  Popcorn!

There are three Garrett Popcorn stands in O’Hare International Airport.  The one in Terminal One is on the B Concourse right by the TSA checkpoints so if you come in there, it’s one of the first things you will see.

The stand is simple.  There are just bins with popcorn and two people manning the counter.  One fills the bags, the other runs the cash register.  When we were there at 7 AM, there wasn’t much of a line so we each got a medium bag. I got the Buttery while J got the Garrett Mix…or as you know it outside of Chicago, Chicago Mix.

There really is no better popcorn in the world than Garrett Popcorn.  The popcorn is so soft whichever topping you choose, it’s coated on there thickly so you get a full burst of flavor in every bite.

We tried stopping at this same stand on our way home but there was a long line and I was really stressed out about making our connection.  We got in line but it wasn’t moving and I started getting antsy and regrettably snapped a little at J.  I wanted popcorn but I wanted to get home too…..they really need one of these popcorn stands on every concourse in every terminal.  This is the most Chicago thing you can get from the airport and it really makes traveling through O’Hare worth your time.
