I’m not a big group dinner person. It always makes me anxious.

They can be fun though. Especially with the kid’s friends.

We were in Nashville for a figure skating competition last weekend. J, L, and B went to Nashville without me last year because I was in St. Louis for work. They got in to town a night early and headed down to Broadway for dinner. J put her name in at a couple of places then just took the table for whoever opened up first. That happened to be Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa.

This year, there was a bigger group going from our team. They all wanted to get together for dinner on Thursday night somewhere on Broadway. We had a group of 12 so I started to see if anyone took reservations. The one I found that did was…Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa.

Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa is on Broadway/US-70 west of 3rd Avenue in The District part of Nashville. The three story brick building actually has three businesses in. Casa Rosa is on the far west side of the building next to Savannah’s Candy Kitchen. The four level restaurant opened on the Lower Broadway Strip in 2021 when it became the first female branded country music start restaurant on Broadway. There are a lot of big name country superstars who have branded spots. Some of those names would keep us away from the business, but not Miranda Lambert. J and I have seen her in concert a few times including at the Colosseum at Windsor inside the Caesars Windsor casino back in 2009 not long after we moved to Michigan. Prior to Casa Rosa, the space was Crazy Town.

The first floor is kind of the honky tonk. There’s a large bar that runs about half the length of the building. There are a few tables as well but this space is mostly for people who want to have a few drinks while listening to some live music. There’s also a gift shop on the side opposite the bar. The decor uses some of the natural features of the building highlighted with pink lighting and some Tex-Mex flare.

There are multiple live music stages throughout the venue but the first one is on the first floor near the back of the space. It’s a somewhat small stage a few feet off the ground surrounded by the exposed brick wall and, again, highlighted by pink lighting.

The main dining room is on the second floor. There’s a grand staircase leading up to a landing where the host station is. We had made reservations for 6:00 but we had to do it online as two separate reservation. The software they usually only allows for a group of 10. We had 12 so we made two reservations for 6. J went to talk to the host who told her he figured out what we were doing and had one table set for 12.

The dining room is rather elegant. It’s mostly made up of large pink leather booths but there are some larger tables as well. There’s a large bar that wraps around half of the room. The decor has kind of that adobe Tex-Mex look mixed in with the natural brick of the building. The most striking feature is the large rhinestone covered saddle hanging in the middle of the room modeled after a favorite of hers from Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, TX. The lighting is kept low with natural light coming in from the front facade windows accented by pick lights and string LED’s.

We were taken to a semi-private spot right off the main dining room. There was one large wrap around booth with chairs on the other side and the head ends. Menus were already on the table and the waitress came over to get started on drink orders.

Just like at Tin Roof Broadway, nothing really jumped out at me on the beer menu. I ordered a Yuengling but when the waitress brought the can, it didn’t look like a Yuengling. Turns out, it was a Flight by Yuengling. It’s their low calorie beer which they call “The Next Generation of Light Beer.” I’m not a super big Yuengling fan so I had never heard of it. It was fine. Pretty typical light beer but nothing I’d get again.

Most of the women with us ordered margarita’s but J ordered hers frozen. The margaritas are made with Cazadores Tequila. She picked strawberry has her flavor.

The menu at Casa Rosa is Tex-Mex cantina. Most of the dishes are Mexican inspired but I was still able to find a burger but in hindsight, I wish I would have ordered the tacos.

The Queso Burger is two beef patties on a brioche bun with a Southwest mayo. The sandwich is then cut in half and placed cut side down on to a bed of Queso. The plate looks a little bit of a mess at first but it turns out to be really tasty.

It’s a simple burger so most of the flavor actually comes from the queso the sandwich is placed on instead of what’s on the burger.

The sandwich comes with nachos on the side. The waitress asked if I wanted fries instead but it was a $5 upcharge I didn’t really feel like paying. The nachos were a pretty good side though. It was simply tortilla chips with more of that white queso and topped with jalapenos. I took some of the jalapenos and put them on my burger but kept a few on the chips. I wasn’t mad at all about keeping the nachos instead of upgrading to the fries.

J ordered what was originally my second choice. She got the Miranda’s Hot Chicken and Waffles. This plate is a huge, fluffy cornbread waffle topped with hot chicken bites, corn salsa, jalapenos, and cilantro. There is also maple syrup served on the side. The hot chicken wasn’t very hot at all which is good for J. It was really crispy, juicy chicken though and paired so well with the cornbread waffle. J chose to dip in the syrup instead of dumping it on which made things much less sticky. The plate was way to big for her to eat and they never offered a to-go box. I’m not sure anyone would have eaten later anyway. I picked at it a little bit once she was finished but I was pretty stuffed from my own meal.

L got beef tacos of the Nino’s Meal and B ordered a cheeseburger. They were on the other end of the table so no pictures but both finished their plates. L actually went back to Casa Rosa a few nights later and they weren’t offered kid’s meals (she doesn’t look like a kid anymore) and she picked tacos off the regular menu which were way to spicy for her. She said she loved the beef tacos on the kids menu. B took a little bit of flack from his friends for ordering a cheeseburger at a Mexican restaurant but he said it was really good and finished it off.

They were able to split the bill four ways so we didn’t have to do any math. The cost for the four of us was just under $130. It’s overpriced but that’s to be expected at a place like this. The food was good. The atmosphere was good. They were really accommodating with a mix of kids and adults (it was actually 6 of each). We had a fun time and that’s really what we were going for. It was a long drive to Nashville and the kids all started a long weekend of competition the next day. It was nice to get together and let them get together outside of an ice rink.

This area of Nashville is really well known for country music and it was also cool just to walk around and see all of the neon lights and hear the music coming from the bars.

J and I spent a night of our honeymoon in Nashville in 2009. That night, we went to the Wildhorse Saloon (no longer open) for line dancing. I remember walking around a little bit on Broadway but not much. We got a chance to do that on this night before a severe thunderstorm rolled in as we were walking back to the car.
