Cinderella’s Food Truck

It’s that time of the year again. Lunchtime Live! is back at Bronson Park on Friday’s.
I had a fairly easy Friday. Most of my work was done in the afternoon when a Grand Rapids colleague met me to finish a couple of tasks. I spent the morning doing some housekeeping things then took a quick lunch break to pick my kids up from the rink and get them lunch.
I made stops at Zoo Scoop and Jimmy John’s for them but I knew that there were food trucks downtown so I waited until I got back to work to get something for myself.
I saw a lot of the same food trucks that I usually see at Lunchtime Live as I was driving back to the office but there was one near the corner of South and Rose Streets that I have been looking for for a while.
Cinderella’s Food Truck is based out of Portage but if you follow their Facebook page, you can find them all over the area. It’s a fairly new truck having gotten started last summer. Their main focus is fried chicken sandwiches but they do a number of other things and have special catering menus for events.

There was a lady taking orders outside the truck and handing them in to the kitchen. The menu is printed on a chalkboard that was leaning up against the truck from the curb. The choices were either a fried chicken sandwich or a BBQ pulled pork sandwich.

I went with The Nashville Hot sandwich. It came with choice of hand cut fries or mac and cheese. I chose the fries. The cost for the meal was $14. I had a drink back at the office so I didn’t buy one from them.

The sandwich looked good but I couldn’t wait to get to the fries. I love any restaurant that takes the extra time to slice up a fresh potato and not just dump fries out of a bag. These fries were so crispy and golden brown on the outside. There was a delicious, oily, salty crunch on every single fry I picked up. These are the type of fries I could make an entire meal out of.

The chicken sandwich was massive. The fried boneless chicken breast had a bit of spice from the Nashville Hot seasoning but it wasn’t overbearing. It was topped with a apple jalapeno slaw and some mayo. I’m not a huge fan of slaw so I did take most of it off leaving just enough for a little bit more crunch and a little bit of flavor. I couldn’t really see how big the sandwich actually was until I finished off the fries. I was already pretty full from the fries but I forged ahead. After that first bite, it wasn’t even a challenge to finish the sandwich. It was one of those so good it’s hard to put down deals.

This was a really great meal for $14. The fries were amazing, the chicken sandwich was delicious and there was a lot of food. It’s hard to beat all that.
I’ve seen Cinderella’s posting on Facebook for almost a year now but I’ve never been able to get to one of their stops. I was just about ready to phone it in because Lunchtime Live was all the usual (albeit delicious) suspects. I was happy to see this truck here so I could finally grab lunch from them.
