Noon Mark Burger and Pie Joint

L had one more skate at The Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships at the The Olympic Center. It was at about 11:00 AM but we weren’t planning on leaving right away. We still wanted to stay and watch the Senior International Free Dances that started that afternoon. We didn’t plan on driving all the way home anyway so hanging around until five or so wouldn’t be a big deal.
L got one more medal in her last event for a total of three on the week. I watched her get her medal and take one last set of pictures on the balcony with the Olympic rings in the background and then I wandered away from The Olympic Center to get something to eat.
Earlier in the week, B and I had walked down to a burger joint but they were closing just as we got there. I ended up taking him for ice cream for dinner at Emma’s Lake Placid Creamery then later in the night, I ordered a pizza from Ere’s Pizza.
I spent the rest of the week wanting to get back to this place and this was my last chance to do so.
Noon Mark Burger and Pie Joint is on Main Street towards the middle of downtown Lake Placid north of Marcy Road. The restaurant is a small log cabin type addition to a larger stone and wood building that has kind of a mountain lodge theme to it. The restaurant sits up off of street level and has a wooden staircase to get to the entrance. It sits right next to a municipal parking lot and across the street from Smoke Signals where we ordered dinner from the night before.
The shop is pretty small with an order counter right in front of you when you walk in. The very small menu, consisting only of burgers and fries, hangs on big sign boards above the order counter.
I didn’t want to wait on the woman in front of me to finish asking questions so once I noticed the order kiosk off to the side, I headed over there to put my order in. It was much quicker and much more efficient than waiting for the lady in front of me to figure out what kind of burger she wanted.
Right next to the order kiosks are stacks of boxes with pie. There were full size pies and smaller pies in several flavors. I don’t like pie..and yes, I know that’s weird, so I didn’t really pay attention to what they had. I was just there for a burger.
There is a little bit of seating inside the building but not much. There is one actual table but that was being used when I got there. The rest of the seating is at a rail in a small alcove. It wraps around on three sides and has some backless pub stools. I wasn’t in a hurry to get back to the arena so I grabbed a stool and waited for my name to be called.
It only took about five minutes for my number to be called. I headed up to the counter to grab the small tray of food.
The meal was served in the small paper boats you get from food trucks but it was packed with food. I started with the fries. They were the skin on type with a light batter to them. There were bottles of ketchup and mustard in the seating area but I just ate these as they were. They were fine as they were and were very filling.
The burger I ordered was The Classic with two patties. You can do a single or a triple if you want but two sounded about right. This is a customizable option so you pick the toppings. I kept it fairly simple with cheese and bacon. The burger patties on this sandwich were on point smash burgers with some really crispy bits along the edges. I’m actually pretty bummed B wasn’t with me because I think this is a burger he would have really liked. It’s a smashburger with so many layers of flavors. Had I found this sandwich earlier in the week, I may have tried to make it there for every meal.
I’m glad I made time to make it back to Noon Mark Burger and Pie Joint for lunch before leaving Lake Placid. A week after we were in Lake Placid, a Facebook friend of mine took a trip to the Adirondack’s and stopped at Noon Mark Diner in Keene Valley and raved about how good that place was. If it was half as good as this burger shop, it must be amazing. As a burger connoisseur, I can’t tell you enough how much I liked this burger.
