Remember a few weeks ago when I blogged about a pizza place in Edwardsburg and I said I didn’t go to Edwardsburg very often.

I was back in Edwardsburg recently. It was another Friday night overtime shift so I had some time to grab dinner before the shift started. I got to Edwardsburg pretty early with the intention of grabbing pizza again. I really liked Papa’s Pizzeria but, you know me, I’m always looking for someplace different.

There aren’t any other pizza options in Edwardsburg nor are there very many food options at all. I expanded my search a little bit and noticed Granger, Indiana is really close. There are more options there including more pizza options. It was only a few minutes out of my way so I headed down to Indiana.

The pizza place I chose was Jimmy’s Pizza & Ribs on State Road 23 near Capital Avenue near the center of the census designated community of Granger. The pizza place shares the Capital Cove shopping plaza with five other businesses.

It really should come as no surprise I picked Jimmy’s because they have online ordering. I will always pick a place with online ordering over having to call it in. I’m a Gen Xer and I still hate talking to people on the phone.

I put in an order for a medium Meat Lovers Pizza. I was just past Decatur when I put the order in and it was just coming out of the oven when I got to the shop in Granger.

Jimmy’s is a dine in or carry-out place but most of the tables were being used by people waiting for their carry out orders. There’s a large counter right when you walk in the door. If you’re picking up, you do it here. If you’re dining in, you put your order in here too.

I really didn’t have a lot of time and I had to get back to Edwardsburg but I was super hungry so I opened the box as soon as I got back to the car and decided to have a couple of slices before trekking back in to Michigan.

The pizza is the kind of pizza I really like. It’s a fairly thin crust with the meats piled on underneath a thick layer of cheese and cut in to squares. I will die on the hill that pizza just tastes better when it’s cut in to squares.

The sauce didn’t have much sweetness to it so the saltiness from the meats was the dominating flavor. I had to keep telling myself that I needed to get going and that the pizza would still be sitting on my front seat when I was done with work. No one was going to take it from me and I could enjoy all of this delicious pizza when I got done with my shift.

The cost for my medium pizza was right around $26 before tip.

Jimmy’s Pizza & Ribs does pizza the way I like it done. That’s really the best thing I can say about it. I really like this style of pizza and they packed on the toppings to make this one extra tasty. I have never had a reason to go to Granger before…first time I’ve ever been there…and it was worth it to pick up this pizza for dinner.
