Saturday night at the US Figure Skating Championships was a lot like Friday night.

We went to the Group 1 session again because B had actually made friends with one of the guys making his Senior Championships debut. He just missed the cut to make it to the evening session . Going to those early sessions also give us a chance to see some skaters we should be seeing rising to the top over the next several years.

Like Friday night, we decided not to leave the arena after the first session. There’s just not a lot of restaurants around the Enterprise Center to walk to so we decided to just pay the extra and eat inside the arena.

The concourse got pretty busy really quickly. I suggested going to the upper level concourse because most of the tickets on that level were sold by the session instead of in the All Access and Weekend packages. Those single session tickets were supposed to leave the arena after the session so I figured it would be much less busy.

I also did this because the restaurant I wanted to grab dinner from was on that level.

I was looking for Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.

The popular fast casual burger chain opened up a concession stand on the mezzanine level of the Enterprise Center near Portal 58 in 2024. There are several Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburger locations in Metro St. Louis including one inside nearby Busch Stadium. Like other concession stands in the Enterprise Center, this one is built in the wall and looks like a typical arena concession stand but with the Freddy’s branding and food.

Like the Shake Shack we had on Friday night, Freddy’s menu is not quite the same as it’s full restaurant counterparts. They have the namesake Steakburgers and Frozen Custard but there only a few options of each. Sandwiches are limted to a Double Steakburger with Cheese, a Bacon and Cheese Double Steakburger, and a Grilled Chicken sandwich. They also have chicken tenders, fries, chips, and cheese curds. On the custard side, they have a couple of Concretes and a cookie sandwich. Prices are about $3-$4 more expensive than they are on the outside and sandwiches come without all the usual toppings.

I ordered a Bacon and Cheese Double Steakburger for myself, a Double Steakburger with Cheese for B and an order of fries for us to all split. We still had drinks from another drink stand so we didn’t need them Freddy’s. The cost for just the food was $31 and all of the food is packaged and sitting in warmers. The lady running the cash register just reached into the cabinet and grabbed what we ordered while I was paying.

We found a table nearby and J and L joined us with slices of pizza. I pulled the Bacon and Cheese Double Steakburger out of the bag and started in. I have eaten at a Freddy’s before but it’s been quite a while so I don’t remember much about it. This burger from the Enterprise Center was pretty tasty. It’s two smash burger patties with a delicious crunchy outer edge topped with cheese, bacon, and pickles. If you get this one in a regular store, it would also come with mustard and onion. The burger was pretty filling which was much appreciated as we still had about five hours of figure skating left to watch.

B’s Double Steakburger with Cheese was essentially the same thing without the bacon. His also came with pickles but we took them off. It would also typically come with mustard and onions. He’s not use to eating a double so he was surprised at how full he was when he was done. B ate a lot of cheeseburger this weekend both at the arena and at restaurants. He didn’t complain about any of them.

The fries were the kind of fries L really likes and as soon as she saw them, she reached over the table to grab a handful. They’re shoestring fries that are really crispy with a decent amount of salt on them. There were places to get condiments but we all pretty much eat fries with no dips. L helped me a little bit but I ate most of these fries myself even though the shoe string fry is one of my least favorite fast food fry.

I was surprised by the concession offerings at the Enterprise Center. When I was there last spring for the Frozen Four, I didn’t really look because I was there by myself. I knew we were going to spend quite a bit of money on food and drink on this trip because I knew we were going to be in the arena for several hours three days in a row. I like they have some actual known brands instead of just generic arena food and while the price is a little bit higher, it’s not obnoxious.
