Our summer has been a lot of fast food.

We’ve spend a lot of time traveling and a lot of time at the rinks at Wings Event Center

We run in to a problem on multiple nights that L has to get from Wings Event Center to Wings West but B still has to be at WEC.  It usually helps if I can get off work in time to at least pick L from Wings West so she doesn’t have to sit in the lobby and wait for B to be done at WEC.

Last Tuesday, I had to go over to WEC when I got off work to button something up before heading out on a trip for the rest of the week.  I got that taken care of then told J I would run over to West and wait for L to get done.

I had about a half hour or so until she was done and I hadn’t really eaten all day.  I decided to just make it simple and grab something along 9th Street.

I picked the Wendy’s on the corner of 9th Street and Financial Parkway in Texas Township.  This is usually our go to Wendy’s when that makes it in to our rotation.  It’s one of the older design Wendy’s that was built after the whole solarium design went by the wayside and it probably hasn’t changed much in twenty years.

Just like the outside, the inside design hasn’t changed in a while either. The order counter is right inside the door and it’s surrounded by badly dated tile on the floor and on the walls. Even the menu boards are still the outdated back light sign boards that were popular in the 90’s. No TV screens anywhere in site.

The dining room is the same. Fake flowers, dated furniture and carpet that looks like it’d be at home in 1998. The restaurant is clean but it just has the feel of a time capsule.

Like most people, I have a usual order at Wendy’s. We typically do the drive thru though so going inside here is actually a fairly new experience for me. I’m not sure I’ve ever been inside.

I ordered the Baconator meal without ketchup or mayo. Made both the fries and the drink a large. The cost was around $13. I thought about ordering a Frosty but didn’t. Probably should have. Who goes to Wendy’s and doesn’t get a Frosty?

I still had some time so I actually ate in the dining room. I grabbed the fries first. Wendy’s fries are one of my more favorite fast food fries. They’re a little thicker than most places which makes then crispy on the outside and softer in the middle. They’re also skin on fries which I always like even if they are frozen.

The Baconator has been my favorite sandwich and the reason I go to Wendy’s for quite a while. The sandwich is two quarter pound beef patties, six pieces of bacon, and two slices of American cheese. So yeah, not the healthiest option but definitely the tastiest.

As far as fast food goes, Wendy’s is usually my preferred option. I don’t eat a lot of fast food though so this is more of a treat when I get it. This Wendy’s on 9th Street is fine. Like I’ve mentioned, it’s a little dated but that’s just a cosmetic thing. B has just discovered the $5 Biggie Bag so my guess is we’ll be stopping a little more often for a while.
