I’m not a gambler.   I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been to Firekeepers Casino since it opened in 2009.

I took my parents there once to gamble.   J and I went to see Dennis Miller there once in 2019.   I think those might be the only two times I’ve been there.

I had a work event at the hotel side of the property last week before we headed to Wisconsin for another figure skating competition.   I knew it was going to be a long, expensive weekend of eating out so I didn’t want to spend too much on Tuesday before I left.

I was hungry though and I needed something.

I stopped at Gapi Coffee & Sweets inside Firekeepers Hotel.   The hotel side is newer than the casino opening in 2012.   To get to the hotel, you go in the main entrance then take a left to take you around to the other side of the property.   There are large parking lots in front of the hotel which is connected to the casino.   If you go in the casino entrance, you can still get to the hotel, you’ll just have a bit of a walk.

Gapi Coffee & Sweets is located right inside the door to the hotel off to the left of the check-in counter. According to the Firekeepers website there is apparently a second Gapi in the casino but I haven’t been in there in so long, I couldn’t tell you where it is. This coffee shop is just kind of out in the open. There is only some rail type seating separating the hotel lobby from the coffee shop.

There are a couple of food options to pick from at Gapi. The easy one is pre-made deli sandwiches that run $10. These are in a cooler next to the coffee counter.

There is also a case with some baked goods if you’re just looking for a simple snack to go along with a coffee.

I chose to order a bagel sandwich. They have a few options and since I was past breakfast time, I picked the Turkey & Havarti on an Everything Bagel. I also grabbed a bottle of Pepsi from the cooler with the sandwiches and salads. The simple meal cost me $10 and took a little over five minutes to be put together.

I grabbed my sandwich and headed to the parking lot to eat because I was meeting someone and wanted to be outside when they got there.

The Turkey & Havarti on an Everything Bagel is exactly what it says it is. There is a couple of slices of turkey with melted Havarti cheese. The Everything bagel tastes more like it was microwaved than toasted. It was a fine sandwich but not something you’d get at a dedicated bagel shop. This is more like a coffee shop bagel sandwich which is exactly what it is.

Gapi Coffee & Sweets is a good stop if you’re staying at the hotel and don’t want to run out to Starbucks to get your morning coffee. The sandwich was alright. It met the most important criteria of the day for me though. It was cheap and it satisfied those hunger cravings until I got home.
