Jaspare’s Pizza (Sprinkle Road)
I told you I was going to doing a bunch of blog posts for places I blogged about already but haven’t been to in a while. It’s time for an update.
This one is that and also kind of an oops. I was looking through my links and I couldn’t find a link to this restaurant. I could have sworn I had been there but I wasn’t seeing it. Of course, when I went to edit pictures, I found the post I thought I had done but couldn’t find.
Oh well. It’s time for an update anyway.
We had a late Friday night of figure skating practice at Wings Event Center. That’s not something that usually happens. Usually Wednesday is our late night but it was Friday last week.
B got done with his practice before L did. Since it was Friday night, I asked J if she wanted to just order a pizza. She said yes as long as it wasn’t Cottage Inn.
Of course I had another plan.
There’s a Jaspare’s Pizza on Sprinkle Road not too far from Wings Event Center. It’s in a small shopping plaza on the corner of Sprinkle Road and Milham Avenue. I wrote a blog post about this restaurant 12 years ago and must have forgot to add it to my list of Portage restaurants.
I put my order in online but this pizza place is much more than a carry-out pizzeria. There’s actually a pretty large dining room that even has a lunch buffet during the week.
The pickup/order window looks a little out of place and kind of just cut out of the wall. It’s just kind of a window cut out on the corner of the kitchen. I walked up and told the lady working that I had an online order. She turned around in to the kitchen, grabbed it for me, then I headed back to Wings Event Center to pick B up and head home to eat.
I ordered two things. I got a large pizza with (I thought) half pepperoni and half just cheese. I also ordered a large Three Cheese Bread.
Let’s start with the Three Cheese Bread. This is Jaspare’s breadsticks with a three cheese blend on top. It comes with a sauce to dip in. I just stuck to the marinara. I really like these sticks and dug in to those right away when I got home. They’re super garlicky and very cheesy. There are times I can make an entire meal out of breadsticks and this would have been one of those times.
I can laugh about it now because it was 100% my mistake but when I opened up the pizza box, I didn’t find pepperoni. I found Green Peppers.
I wondered how the heck that could happen but then I looked at the online ordering page again and NOW it’s obvious. I clicked on Gr Pep. The good news is, they actually did a really not great job of putting it on half the pizza so I took the three pieces the peppers were on, peeled back the cheese and picked off the little pieces before anyone else saw them. As far as the rest of my family knows, we had a delicious, thin crust, golden brown cheese pizza.
Every time we order from a Jaspare’s J says she always forgets how good Jaspare’s pizza is. It’s always so delicious and even with my screw up, it was still delicious. I’m glad I was able to keep my family from realizing my mistake. The pizza was gone before we went to bed that night which is not always the case but that’s what happened with this one.
