Taco, Set, Go
Yup. I did it again. No Friday night pizza night for me this fall.
I’m actually kind of disappointed in myself.
My Friday night overtime shift took me to Paw Paw. There’s still a pizza place there I haven’t been to but I saw a Facebook post for a taco truck that’s nearing the end of their season. The pizza place isn’t going anywhere so I decided to go with tacos.
Taco, Set, Go was set up on this Friday night at the corner of Red Arrow Highway and Main Street just outside of Mattawan at the Citgo gas station. I had never heard of this truck before I saw the Facebook post but I love tacos and I love taco trucks so I decided to give it a go. It looks like they’ve been around since the spring making this corner kind of a home base operation. They typically post a weekly schedule on their Facebook page.
The menu is pretty simple. Tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and tortas. I put in my usual order for five steak tacos. The cost was a little more than usual as the tacos are $3.25 each. It was a little over $16 for five. I paid using my card then the lady taking the order I could wait in my car if I wanted to and she’d bring it out when it was ready.
It took a little over five minutes before I saw her walking over with two small foil wrapped packs of tacos. I headed to my job site in Paw Paw to eat instead of just chowing down in the parking lot of the Citgo.
The tacos were pretty standard Mexican style tacos. Each had two warm corn tortilla shells filled with a seasoned, tender chopped steak, cilantro, and onion. The $3.25 price is a little jarring at first but they do come pretty filled with meat so I didn’t have to worry about still being hungry after putting down five of them.
The tacos came with two small containers of a thick, chunky, has to be home made hot sauce. I used as much as I could scrape out of the plastic cups because this stuff was good. It was much hotter than I was expecting but it was so good. It gave the tacos more of a bite than the typical thin hot sauces that usually come with tacos like this.
Taco, Set, Go was a good choice for dinner. I love tacos. I could eat them for every meal. These tacos were delicious. I always wish a taco truck would set up right outside my house (or work) so I could eat tacos every day. Taco, Set, Go delivers on the simple concept with delicious food.
